Welcome to Terminal City, where all roads end!

2009 location: 3:15 and Adapt

Who We Are- What We are About

Terminal City (TC) is a Burning Man Village, made up of veteran theme camps.  TC first unofficially villaged in 2007 with member camps near by to one another near 3:00 keyhole.  In 2008, TC officially villaged and was listed as such.   Member camps of TC thematically share a common ideas-- the end is near... you are doomed... today is the last day of the rest of your life, etc.  Apocalyptic elements abound, and we are just fine with that.

Camps of Terminal City

2009 Terminal City village member camps include APOKILIPTIKA, The Booby Bar, Mash 4207th, Star Base 47- Larry Harvey Memorial Spaceport (aka Shuttlecraft Galileo), Camp TMI, Sex Filth Avenue, Playawaste Raiders Camp and Empress Rosa's Wedding Chapel and Chill Space.

Location and General Layout

Located at 3:15 and Adapt, TC formes a unique sort of village.  Although we shared theme elements and infrastructure as well as interactivity, this was enhanced by the establishment of the "A Hole"- a sort of mini plaza that bracketed the street.  This provided a unique public area where interactivity, events, game shows and performances were held. Art pieces were placed here, and convenient MV parking was available without messing up A St.  Member camps created distinctive districts within the village.

Early Arrival and Set up

Set up will begin with a small survey party to arrive on Weds.  The main set up party will be in place by Friday. TC will have all set up complete by sundown on Sunday.

Membership and Recruiting--- We are full!!!

Terminal City- No Gas, No Food, No Mercy.  This wording on a large highway sign, greets all who enter the city limits.  This village consists of 8 inter-connected theme camps straddling A Street near the 3:00 keyhole.  The most recognizable structure is the Booby Bar—the only tits known to be visible from space. In the center, is our city’s arts and entertainment district, the A Hole.  The A hole was extremely effective in 2008 as a gathering place for scheduled and unscheduled activities and interactions.  Surrounding the A Hole are theme camps with a variety of art works, contraptions and interactive features like performance spaces, games and towers.  The Terminal City flagpole rises near the radio tower of WTF 99.9 FM Radio APOKILIPTIKA.  The coves of the A Hole serve as public gathering space and off street parking for Terminal City mutant vehicles as well as visiting MVs and bikes, without impairing traffic flow on A St.  Terminal City has a cohesive look and feel.  Extra effort is put into making the camp frontages thematic and compelling, imparting a militaristic end of the world suburbia motif.  A dramatic night lighting effort is in place for 2009 that will light up A Street though Terminal City!  The camps of TC share many infrastructure needs, including water and fuel supplies, generator and electricity resources, as well as sharing elements of kitchen and sanitation facilities.  Terminal City will offer BRC citizens basic bike repairs on an as-available basis.

45. Comments

Please list any special needs or comments that you might like to make. (Suggestions? Accolades? Complaints?)

In 2008, Terminal City was located at the same area requested here.  The location was excellent, and we’d be honored to have the same location.  However, in 2008, the entry from the 3:00 keyhole onto A St. was dark and mostly unlit at night.  This made it very difficult for BRC citizens to see there was a street- even Terminal City members often lost sight of it.  We are working on this ourselves by creating a sort of “runway lighting” down our portion of A Street using 400 feet of contractor string lights.   We’d also like to encourage camps that will abut to the keyhole on both sides of A St to be well lit at night.

Our Early Arrival Team (E.A.T.) is requesting early entry on Weds.  This team will be made up of members from most of the village camps.  We anxiously await instructions.

Just as in 2008, we will have 3 small propane effects devices associated with Mutant Vehicles, which were successfully passed last year:

1---Mutant Vehicle—Roamin-Off HBL Contact: 4doobers@pyramid.net

Towing:

2---"FOGBANK" -Fuel Oxygen Gas Binary Nimbo Kinetic transducer sound cannon

3---"FOGHORN" - Fuel Oxygen Gas Hexa-Orifice Rotary Noisemaker.

Both 2 AND 3 effect devices have to registered separately.  Contact: brucepam@pacifier.com

46. Alternative Power

Please describe your plans to use alternative power options here.

Much of our night effects lighting—colored lights, strings, flashers, blinks and tent/shelter lights are solar rechargeable types.

Other than that, we plan to operate as much other lighting as possible through positive thinking.

47. Generators

If you plan to use generators on the playa, please tell us how many and what your fuel type is. (e.g. diesel, gasoline, bio-diesel, ethanol, veggie oil, or other)

4 generators available for the village.  2 max in operation during evening hours. 2 back ups.  Sound dampening will be used. Generator fuel will be stored in approved safe containers away from sources of ignition.  Any fuel will be stored in emergency accessible locations.
